Boeing Wins $477M DLA Contract to Help Manage Weapon Systems Supply Chain; John Guasto Quoted

Boeing has been awarded a $477 million performance-based contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to provide supplies, full supply chain management and logistics services, the company announced Tuesday. 

“Boeing’s supply chain management and distribution capabilities will help ensure parts are accessible whenever and wherever they are needed based on their use, while reducing inventory and logistics lifecycle costs,” said John Guasto, director of Global Integrated Services Support for Boeing.

Under the contract, Boeing will ensure long-term, affordable sustainment of multiple weapon systems platforms. Work will be performed under a fixed-price, master services agreement. Boeing’s work will be completed over a five-year period with an additional five-year option.

Boeing will support individual contracts based on operational performance requirements. Under the first phase of the contract, which is valued at $39 million, the company will  deliver and supply chain management of Honeywell proprietary parts, licensed exclusively to Boeing.

The company will deliver forecasting, demand planning, acquiring, stocking, packaging and shipping for the individually priced consumables directly to warfighter locations. Boeing’s efforts will work to support the warfighters’ daily demand requirements. 

Boeing’s $477 million contract follows the company’s recent award from DLA to provide consumable parts for the U.S. Air Force's KC-46 Pegasus tanker aircraft. Boeing announced in Oct. 2020 that the company won a three-year, $149.5M delivery order under a five-year basic ordering agreement supporting the KC-46 Commercial Common Program. 

The Boeing KC-46 is built to carry people and cargo, identify threats via a multilayer protection system and refuel military aircraft platforms that support international aerial refueling standards.
